In the portrait, Lady Decies stands poised within a refined French interior, wearing long white gloves and sapphire earrings, her dark hair styled in a chignon. One arm extends gracefully while the other holds her beloved black Papillon, Hippodale, adorned with a pink ribbon. Boldini’s signature style conveys movement, sophistication, and modernity, reflecting Lady Decies’ prominence in international society. The original painting remained with Lady Decies in Paris before passing through her family and ultimately entering the Newport collections.
