Description
The Votes for Women Umbrella features five bold suffragists in gilded sashes and proudly displays the names of 12 inspiring leaders of the American movement: Susan B. Anthony, Alva Belmont, Nannie Helen Burroughs, Carrie Chapman Catt, Lucretia Mott, Alice Paul, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucy Stone, Mary Church Terrell, Ida B. Wells, Victoria Woodhull, and Maud Younger.
Our inspiring umbrella gives vivid life to the time just a century ago when American women took to the streets to secure the right to vote. The woman suffrage movement began in 1848 in Seneca Falls, NY. For the next 50 years, woman suffrage supporters worked to educate the public about the validity of female enfranchisement. By 1900, the campaign for woman suffrage became a mass movement. American women won full voting rights in 1920, with the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment.
