Description

Muriel Barclay de Tolly was born in Nova Scotia Canada, and immigrated to the United States with her husband George. In 1985, she opened the famous Muriel’s restaurant, in Newport, Rhode Island with the help of her six children.

On a dare, she entered her seafood chowder in the Newport Chowder Festival and went on to win for the next three consecutive years. This placed her in the Newport, Rhode Island Chowder Hall of Fame.

Although she retired from her restaurant in 1999, her delicious seafood chowder recipe, with it’s “secret potion”, is still available.

Bring home Muriel's "secret" recipe, a collection of dried herbs and spices,  add butter, onion, and your favorite seafood for a one-of-a-kind treat direct from Newport, RI!
