This richly illustrated, Gilded Age inspired sketchbook is the jaw-dropping addition to The Gilded Life of Richard Morris Hunt by Sam Watters. It reveals a fascinating side of a titan of American architecture alongside pages for a reader’s own expressions of beauty.

A Wellspring for the Creative Mind.

American architect Richard Morris Hunt designed some of the greatest landmarks of the Gilded Age, including the Vanderbilt mansions of Biltmore, the Breakers, and Marble House to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. As a collector, Hunt, with his wide Catharine, searched Europe for inspiring object - from fine art and jewelry, to antiques and rare books - which he captured in his travel sketchbooks. With images from Hunt's collection, author Sam Watters explores the architect's privileged world.

Included are pages for your notes and sketches.
